House Bill seeks seperate courts for IP

From GMANews.TV

I was browsing through GmaNews.tv for some of the latest current events back in PI.

I came across a link "House Bill seeks seperate courts for IP (also known as Indigenous People)".
It makes me happy that lawmakers are trying their best to push through the bills 5751 and 5752 (was created by Rufus Rodriguez, Second District Cagayan de Oro).

So what does this Bill entail?

Under the bill, courts shall be established to resolve cases involving indigenous peoples in provinces where there are concentrations of indigenous groups.

Supervising the courts are lawyers who belong to each individual tribe acting as judges, "much like the Shari' a Muslim religious court."

For centuries, our katutubos (IP) have already established their own laws regarding their Justice System. (Makes me think about the laws for American Indians here.. According to Brother Tattoo, they can not touch the accounts that are owned by American Indians because it is handled by some one else and a special case as well).

Hopefully if these bills push through, it should show a positive outcome and the issues and difference that the law can not provide for the IP's would be resolved.

xoxo
